Sleeves are up, new stuff is coming

Goplan Site Photo It’s been a while since Goplan has seen major updates, but don’t think we’ve been sitting on our hands and sipping piña colada.

Since the survey we sent out last September, we’ve implemented some quick simple things and solved some of the most common problems, but that wasn’t everything we did. We’ve thought long and hard about some of the changes you guys asked for and about the quality of current product. We don’t like to simply make things, we want to make things right. Now that ideas have matured and we have a pretty good idea of where we need to go, it’s time to get to work.

You can see the updated product roadmap (which we like to keep public, as we’ve said before) and have a glimpse of what’s coming. Our main priority will be refactoring the current code for speed and ease and then tackle the new features, prioritizing some of the things most of you asked for (company scoped projects, time tracking, etc).

Our goal is to improve your experience, so as always, let us know what you think through our feedback email, the forums or comments to this post. Keep an eye out, updates are coming really soon.

Server problems [solved]

As most of you have noticed Goplan, as well as other applications hosted in Engine Yard, are having connectivity problems.

They are already working on the issue and it should be all solved in a couple of minutes.

EDIT: We are up again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Connectivity issues

Tiago Macedo on November 12, 2007, Comments (0)

As some of you may have noticed, late last night Goplan was having trouble with the file hosting functionality. This was due to a routing issue in the Verizon network and due to that Goplan was unable to access Amazon S3.

The issues are now solved and everything appears to be working correctly now. You can resume uploading and downloading your files.

More email notifications

real time notifications In the survey we held recently a large number of our users requested better email notifications.

Although we still use and recommend the RSS timeline, there is now an equivalent email setting.

If you go to your account preferences and select “Real time” you’ll receive all the events that are added to the timeline in your email account.

Triple the storage!

Fred Oliveira on October 30, 2007, Comments (7)

Early morning, and we come bearing good news: we just tripled the storage limits on all plans, meaning you can now share triple the amount of project files with your co-workers or friends. The unlimited plan got upgraded to a hefty 25GB for those heavy lifting projects, and the others got similarly pumped values. Have a look at the list below for the new storage:

  • Free: 15MB
  • Personal: 300MB
  • Startup: 1.5GB
  • Professional: 6GB
  • Unlimited: 25GB

This is bound to be good news for those of you who were maxing out space with big files. Enjoy! There’s a few more updates coming very soon (including some features we hinted on a while ago).

Textile HelpersDon’t know anything about textile? Wanted to have rich text descriptions and notes without going through a textile tag list or typing all those tags?

Don’t worry anymore, we’ve added some textile helpers wherever textile is accepted, users just have to click and write!

With these new helpers you can easily write and enrich your text with bolds, heads, lists and more without even knowing a single tag, making your text more attractive and easier to read.

New PayPal payment options

New Paypal payment optionsMonthly payments aren’t practical for you? Tired of adding funds to your Paypal account every month? Now you can choose whether to pay one, six or twelve months.

After receiving feedback regarding this issue, we decided to increase the options of Paypal payments, allowing users to pay several months in a single payment. Users have now two more payment options: six and twelve months.

But that’s not all, there’s more to it. If you decide to pay a whole year in advance, we give you the last month for free!

Project archiving

Archive ProjectsFor those of you who haven’t noticed, users with paid subscriptions should now be able to archive projects they’re no longer using.

With this new feature users will no longer have to delete projects once the maximum number is reached, given that only active ones will count for the limit. This will allow the archival of finished projects for future reference or frozen ones for later re-opening.
