How has your experience been so far?

Fred Oliveira on September 18, 2006, Comments (23)

It’s been a week since we opened our public invitation phase on Goplan, and even though we haven’t invited that many people in yet, we do have quite a few passionate users. People who either email or send feedback (through the application itself) saying how much (or how little) they like what we’ve been doing.

But I wanted to extend the question to the rest of you following the blog and using Goplan. What do you think of it now? And more importantly, how is it helping you manage your life and your projects? You don’t need to leave a reply if you don’t want to, but if you have something to say, do get in touch.

Well, most of the feedback I had was mostly technichly-wise, and made it first when the beta went to this stage with a post on my blog, and then with lot’s of tickets and feedback being sent. But I understand the different shift in this blog post: you want to know humanly-wise if goPlan is useful or not. Well, for me it is. I hadn’t yet the time to set-up my tasks and ideas on the projects I’ve created there yet so I can use it as my only tool of management of those projects, but I plan on doing it, so I guess it is per se proof that goPlan works for me… One big no-no to better adoption is the fact that some of the projects I could be using goPlan to manage I can’t just ’cause I’m not the only one on that project, and the other guys don’t have a goPlan account yet… :-P

It’s really nice to see the way you’re managing bug resolution and new features – showing a constant progress in the application is a turn-on for those using it.

Keep up…

We’re loving it. It’s easy to use, well laid out, and simple enough to be really useful. The only thing that would make it better for our purposes would be if we could create project templates. For example, if we know that every website design project uses the same five tasks, it would be nice not have to create each task each time. But really, that’s a small thing.

And what about those who didn’t receive an invitation ???
I want to see how it is and to be able to tell what I think of it …

I also am looking forward to test! hope to get one soon.

Same here! :)

Been testing it this afternoon. I sent it some suggestions… but the main thing I’d love to see is a Brainstorming section for longer, collaborative notes. :) Even better if they can be linked to tasks… so I can brainstorm features, etc. with my team, and then link directly from our planning docs to tasks that dictate how to get it done.

Another quick suggestion: allow editing on comments, at least for a limited time. I hate when typos slip through, but I type fast so it happens often. That’s really just a feature to appease my OCD, though, so certainly not urgent. The brainstorming thing is way higher on my “want” list. ;)

Great job so far. Goplan looks great to mee at the first glance! I think it has some obvious advantages to basecamp. I especially prefer the design which is very appealing and usable. it’s a pity it doesn’t work on the IE properly, otherwise I’d invite some less firefox-savvy folks to test-collaborate on a project right away.
What I don’t like ist that the events descriptions aren’t visible in the calendar view except for mouseover. And i’d like to be able to re-arrange uploaded files and delete file categories.

The main issue to me is the pricing for file uploads: basecamp charges money for uploading at all, so a free basic plan with a small file upload capacity would be a clear advantage.

It is just an amazing product! Everything is clean and consice. I know where to look and where to add in content. I only wish it had some sort of time-tracking section. This helps a lot when I create invoices for clients.

Hi there,

Today I first found out about Goplan. I’ve been using Basecamp and notice that nothing was done with Jessica Beck’s comment:

We als really mis the possibility of project templates. Is this option going to be put in in the near future?

Roy: Quite a few people asked for (or suggested) that already, and although I can’t promise it’ll be done next, it’s definitely something we’ve been thinking about and are considering for implementation. Can we give this one some thought and get back to you on it? Hope you enjoy the product.

What’s money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do.

Something to say?
